Americans For Prosperity-Virginia Talks 2018 Legislative Agenda

J.C. Hernandez, state director of Americans for Prosperity – Virginia (AFP-VA), and Lauren Toomey, deputy director, joined J.R. on the podcast to talk about AFP, their legislative priorities, and grassroots engagement for 2018.

J.C. has been with AFP since 2016, previously serving as the state director for Generation Opportunity and then deputy director of AFP-VA. Lauren is a veteran of the Marco Rubio for President campaign, the Republican National Committee, and the Presidential Inaugural Committee before joining AFP in 2017.

AFP is a national non-profit organization with 36 state chapters and has thousands of grassroots activists as members here in the commonwealth. Specifically, they are dedicated to lower taxes, less government, and promoting economic prosperity.

With the 2018 General Assembly just convening, AFP wants to get the word out about some of its key initiatives, including its opposition to Medicaid expansion and support of bills that oppose the use of tax money to build sports stadiums, unnecessary state occupational licensure, and more.

They also announced their lobby day, which will be held Feb. 5 at the state capitol.
